Land, Trade & Democracy

Claudia Lopez

CoDev & the Connective Project are excited to invite you to join us on September 21 & 22, 2012 to a dialogue about the Colombian conflict, Canada-Colombia relations and our role as Canadians.

The conference will bring local Colombians and Canadians together to learn about the current Colombian context, to analyze Canadian policy towards Colombia and to consider future areas of work. It will provide a space for learning, reflection and sharing to advance solidarity work with the Colombian people, particularly with the indigenous people of Northern Cauca.

Keynote Speakers

Claudia Lopez, a political researcher and analyst and one of Colombia’s key contributors to democratic development for her dedication to rule of law, particularly in her work to expose the links between members of Colombia’s Congress and the paramilitary forces. Watch Claudia’s TEDx presentation.

Jorge Palomino, a leader with the Indigenous Youth Movement in Northern Cauca. The Nasa people and their organization (ACIN), are an icon of non-violent resistance in the face of Colombia’s ongoing conflict.
