For over 20 years, CoDev has been building partnerships for global justice between people in Canada and Latin America. CoDev works in four program areas, each of which helps improve the lives of women, workers, and families in Latin America and in Canada.
Below is a brief description of the program areas we work in. For a more detailed description please click here.
Education: Building Solidarity for Public Education
CoDev’s partners improve public education by increasing participation of women in teaching unions, developing participatory classroom teaching practices, and promoting public input into policy creation.
Women Maquila Workers: Protecting Workers' Rights
CoDev supports solidarity between trade unions and local groups working for social justice in sweatshops. CoDev’s partners educate and empower workers in their struggle to protect their labour rights.
Community-Led Development: Strengthening Grassroots
CoDev supports grassroots community groups working to improve people’s health and social well-being. Our partners enable local people to find their own solutions for improving their communities.
Global Education: Involving Canadians
CoDev helps Canadians understand their connections to global issues and the challenges of our partners in Latin America. Our annual film festival, curriculum resource production, and public speaking tours focus on key development issues. Through seminars, tours and presentations with our Northern partners, CoDev raises awareness about our Southern partners’ struggles and successes.
Our Partners
Canadian Partners
These unions and community groups help CoDev raise awareness and foster support for international solidarity projects.
Latin American Partners
CoDev works with women's organizations, unions and community-based groups that have a vision of sustainable development and a focus on empowerment of their membership and civil society generally. |
