CoDev’s Canadian partners are unions, community groups and student organizations. Each one takes on the responsibility to educate its membership about the Latin American partner and the conditions under which they are working for social justice as well as to develop exchange visits with the Latin American partner. The Canadian partner is also asked to commit itself to the Latin American partner and the project for a minimum of three years. Linking these unions and community groups helps CoDev to play a valuable role in raising awareness and fostering support for international solidarity projects.

Today they are partnered with teacher's organizations in nine Latin American countries and support leadership projects for women teachers. They also contribute annually toward the writing and publication of CoDev's development education resources, and have offered financial support and personnel expertise for a number of initiatives and events which CoDev has spearheaded, including the 1997 People's Summit Youth Forum and the on-going Democratic Initiatives for Education in the Americas (IDEA) project.
