Attend an Event
Support CoDev and get informed by attending an event!
Support CoDev and have fun at the same time by attending one of our events. Along with our annual general meeting, our infamous annual dinner and our incredible annual film festival CoDev hosts a variety of fundraising and program-related events. It’s a great opportunity to meet the dedicated people who support and work with CoDev. We host regular events to celebrate the accomplishments of our partners, share information about upcoming actions and raise funds for our programs as well as one-time special events that come up throughout the year. Information for many of these can be found on our blog!
Film Festival [February]
CoDev’s annual global issues documentary film festival in February has become a “must see” for film buffs and solidarity activists alike. Visit the film festival website for more information! The 2013 festival took place on February 15-17 – thank you everyone who attended! Sign up for our e-bulletin and stay tuned to the film fest page for information about 2014!
CoDev Annual Dinner [May/June]
CoDev’s Annual Dinner is held each year in May or June. Join our Canadian partners, sponsors, donors, members, and other community members for an evening of food & entertainment, a fabulous silent auction and of course, the famous dessert auction! Thanks to everyone who attends this event to support CoDev! The 2013 dinner will take place on June 1st at the Maritime Labour Centre – detail & tickets here! CoDev Annual General Meeting [Sept]
Held in September each year this is a great event to attend to get to know a little about our organization, become a member and meet our staff and board. Each year we do our best to look for ways to share the experiences of our staff and our partners from the previous year. To see what happened at our 2012 AGM check out this blog post! Our 2013 AGM will take place in September 2013. Only CoDev members are eligible to vote at our AGM but you can sign up as a member at the door or you can attend as a non-voting participant. If you have been a CoDev member for more than 60 days at the time of our AGM you are eligible to stand for the board of directors. Interested members should read this!
Beauty and Justice Series [Fall]
In 2010 CoDev started a new series of events with our first art auction brunch event, Coffee, Bread & Roses. It was a special morning celebrating with good friends and raising a (coffee) cup to local BC artists and 25 years of CoDev’s work building partnerships for global justice. We invite you to take a look at some photos (PDF) from the event as well as a listing of the wonderful artists who donated their work and to read the incredible speech (PDF) made by local activist Bill Hood, a long-time CoDev supporter. On April 3, 2011 we continued this series with our Women, Justice & Beauty art auction brunch. Thanks to all the great supporters who came out to the event! The last event in the series was on November 15, 2012! A fantastic evening of Rum & Rhythms to support the incredible work of CoDev! Be sure to join us next year! Here are some amazing photos from the evening, many courtesy of Josh Berson Photography:
CoDev Open House [Dec]
Usually held in the 2nd week of December, CoDev invites our supporters, volunteers and partners to join us at the CoDev office to ring in the end of the year and learn about our projects in the year ahead. Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 2012 open house! Our 2013 holiday open house will take place in mid-December. We hope you will join us.
Guest Speakers
CoDev and our Canadian partners regularly facilitate members of our Latin American partners to come to Canada to speak on the issues facing them. Whenever a partner is here we make an effort to host a public event in the Vancouver area so that you may hear from them directly. Sign up for our e-bulletin event notices so that you know when an event like this is happening!
For additional information about these and other events, contact the CoDev office.
