CoDev is Hiring a Finance & Operations Director

We are looking for a part-time Finance and Operations Director to join our staff team. This is a new, part-time (30 hours a week) position starting January 3, 2012. This bargaining unit position has a starting wage of $25.35 per hour and is subject to the provisions of the collective agreement.

Job Summary

The Finance and Operations Director is responsible for CoDev’s financial management, bookkeeping and office operations, including funding reports, budgets, money management, office management and operational systems. The Finance and Operations Director acts as staff liaison to the CoDev Finance Committee, providing guidance and support to leadership volunteers.

Typical Duties

Provides overall financial management, including accounting and cash flow management, preparation of regular reports to the Finance committee and the Board of Directors, preparation of year end close, liaison with the auditor;

  • Prepares and maintains the organizational budget, in conjunction with the finance committee;
  • Prepares CIDA program budgets and financial reports, in conjunction with program staff;
  • Maintains financial records and bank accounts, including preparing deposits; managing financial filing systems; maintaining the accounting system and records; and completing monthly bank reconciliation;
  • Manages all payroll related activities including preparation of Revenue Canada remittances, T4’s, Records of Employment and tracking all Collective Agreement entitlements for individual employees;
  • General administration of the office, including maintenance of supplies and services, purchasing of equipment and maintenance of office and IT systems and support.


  • University Degree or College Diploma in administration or finance or equivalent related experience;
  • A minimum of two years of related work experience in a non-profit organization;
  • Experience using QuickBooks (or equivalent) accounting software;
  • Excellent understanding of issues related to the operation of a charity and non-profit organizations;
  • Knowledge of international development issues, especially related to the areas of gender and development;
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on cultural sensitivity;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Language proficiency in written and spoken English; a proficiency in written and spoken Spanish is an asset.
