In Memory of Bob Rosen

On November 22nd we at CoDev, along with so many others in our community, lost a dear friend and an incredible board member.  Bob Rosen was a dedicated and tireless advocate for CoDev as well as so many other organizations and causes. We miss him greatly and are honoured to have been a part of his life.

To say that those of us at CoDev were shocked to hear of Bob’s passing is not enough. To say that we were saddened is not enough. In the days that have passed we have not yet found the words that can express our grief. What we have found are the memories that celebrate Bob and the life he shared with so many.

Bob was to CoDev what he was to so many parts of his life. He was an activist, a teacher, a thoughtful contributor, a mentor, a friend, a joy. He joined our family and made us feel a part of his. We are all so grateful for the time and energy he shared with us and the memories he left with us have become even more precious during this time.

CoDev is honoured that Bob’s family has selected us as well as Independent Jewish Voices as the recipients for donations in Bob’s memory.  Donations can be made online via Canada Helps or by telephone at: 604.708.1495. Funds donated to CoDev in memory of Bob Rosen will support the issues that Bob cared most about as a CoDev board member and activist. The funds will support social change in Latin America with an emphasis on education, women’s rights and strengthening the labour movement.

I was incrediably shocked and saddened to hear of Bob Rosen’s death. I attended many
BCTF AGM’s in Vancouver and admired the stands Bob took for democracy and teacher rights. He was a giant of a man and
someone you listened to with respect and
admiration. He could say with passion what
you were thinking. What a loss. My
condolences to his family. Cheryle Sosnowski
