Take Action: Colombia, Indigenous Leader Arrested

Feliciano Valencia

CoDev is concerned over the recent detention of Feliciano Valencia, an indigenous leader with the Asociación de Cabildos Indígenas del Norte del Cauca (Association of Indigenous Councils of Northern Cauca – ACIN). CoDev’s partner NOMADESC has worked closely with ACIN on various indigenous and human rights issues for many years.

Take Action now and join CoDev in sending a letter to Colombian President Juan Manual Santos to let him know that Canadians are concerned about Feliciano’s detention and asking him to take action to ensure Feliciano is released and those responsible for his detention are investigated.

CoDev directly supports human rights in Colombia through our partner, NOMADESC a human rights organization in southwest Colombia that works closely with communities and organizations facing displacement, violence and threats.

Colombians often tell us that sending a message of concern to the Colombian authorities can make a difference and helps them defend their space to continue to their work.
